Hey, I’m Lotta. I was born in Sweden but ten years ago I moved to Finland and fell in love with a Finn. Over a year ago he took over his father’s farm, which is situated in a small countryside village in southwestern Finland. Together we have a nine-year-old daughter and we live with our dog, Loke, and a farm cat, Manta. One of the things I love the most besides the silence and tranquility is that every morning I wake up I need but to step outside the front door to get my nature fix.
Back in 2011 I bought my very first DSLR–a Canon EOS 1100D, which I still use. Off and on I went through periods of taking tons of photos, only to leave it in its bag for months. But in the beginning of 2017, after finishing my studies in Sweden, I picked it back up. And I am now fully set on making a career out of photography and art.
It’s a big world out there, and a confusing one at times. But if there is one thing I have learned it is that so long as you keep on trying, keep on challenging yourself, you cannot fail. There are setbacks–days when it feels like I am getting nowhere. I get frustrated with my camera, frustrated with myself, and wonder if it’s good enough for what I want to do, or if my amateur skill level is the culprit. In the end, it doesn’t matter which. All that which we do not know we can learn. And I want with all my heart and soul to capture and create images that move people. Images that move me and you.
Mostly I share photos and stories from my life here on the farm, and I will write more of the challenges I meet and experiences I have as I learn to master my camera. Mainly I photograph nature and our local surroundings. I really want to bring you the stoic yet soulful beauty of Finland. But you will also find self-portraits, photographic art, and sometimes I get a photo session with my daughter. Every once in a while I take trips to Sweden, and I hope to in the future be able to travel some more to capture the diversity of our Nordic countries. I am a firm believer, though, that you do not have to get on a plane or cross country borders to find beauty and enchanting marvels, even if I this summer got to visit Norway for the first time and was blown away by its magnificent landscapes.
So, a big welcome to you. I hope you enjoy your stay in my little corner of the world. ❤
